Question: if it is 33 degrees out but it feels like 32,
will it rain or will it snow? Does it depend on how the
clouds feel? Or does it depend on how we feel? Things
that make you go "Hmmmn."
Here's the real question, thoughwhen you check the
weather, wouldn't you rather just know WHAT IT FEELS
LIKE? I mean, isn't that the more accurate measurement,
the one we would rather gauge our outdoor activities by?
Do you really care if the weather dude's mercury is
reading 90 degrees when it "feels like" 100
due to the humidity, ehr, something? What if the
mercury doesn't "feel like" working properly?
Am I alone in this? Do I have issues?
Now I'm not being sexist at all, but I think women tend
to be like the weather a bit. I could ask my wife a
question, and depending on what she "feels
like," she may answer "Sure, honey" but
it feels like, "NO!"
Anywho, it occurred to me that we view trials and
difficult situations in life the same way. We have a
tendency to call a problem what it reads on our
thermometersa problem. In that way we are short-sighted,
not weighing in other factors. We are not looking at
the grand scheme of things, the big picture. Instead
we're focusing on our little polaroid, which ironically
is never typically in focus, let alone the fact they
don't last very long.
Folks, we will be tested. Life is one big semester in
the school of hard knocks and there is a test almost
every day. Some are little quizzes, and others are big
ol' thick suckers with lots of research and essay
questions. Suffice to say that you cannot escape trials
and problems. They are what makes up life.
Now, how you face the problems is what makes up YOU (I
know, that was not grammatically correct, but work with
me here). The problem is presented in a big, bold font.
But if you read below it, you'll see the words,
"Feels like an opportunity to grow." Every
difficult situation is measured as a problem, but its
really a character-building lesson. A chance for you to
grow, to become stronger, to be better than before.
Read the small text. Focus on the opportunity to grow
rather than what the mercury is telling you. By shifting
your focus, it'll be easier to get through the trial.
Doing so, God will bless you. Don't give up when your
faith is being tested. He will reward you with a
glorious life. A glorious life is not a life free from
problems, but a life with strong enough faith and
character to face any problem, in any temperature.
