I stood up all smooth like, reached out as if to stretch,
did a quick jump and let the snack remnants fall to the
floor. Thankfully I was sitting in the very back row and
the door to exit was near the front. I have a reputation
to protect, you know. Can't be seen with half of a half
of a mammo-corn bag on my clothes, you hoser.
In this scripture, King David was distraught. He was
having a bad heir day (oh, boy, the comedy integrity for
this devo is now at an all time low). For some amount of
time, David had not sensed God's presence. In fact he
felt "tossed aside" as if he was "wandering
around in the darkness," as verse 2 reads in the New
Living Translation.
King David, in his wisdom, calls out to God, begging him
to send his light and truth. David knows that God's light
will guide him out of a messy situation. David most
likely caused the messy situation with his choices.
Regardless, God's light would give David the opportunity
to see his way out. He may have even used my
stretch-and-jump method to get the ick off.
You may find yourself in a messy situation. You may
realize that "Dawgonnit, all the sudden it's kinda
dim in here." Maybe you feel as if you've been
wandering around in the darkness, or that you've been
tossed aside. Its like you feel you have the proverbial
white snacks on your dark clothing. Your choices may have
landed you there, or you may have just been dealt a really
bad hand.
God's light is available to you. Psalm 119:105 says,
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my
path." Dig into the Word. Don't become content with
your ick. Call out to God. Tell him to "Light it up,
yo." He will hear your call. The house lights will
come on as soon as the last scene is over.
"...guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are
God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
