That is to say, once the Freon loses its ability to freeze
properly, the refrigerator is no longer useful. The
refrigerator has a purpose to fulfill, which is to keep
food cool for others. It doesn't keep food cool for
itself. The Freon has a purpose within the refrigerator.
It keeps the fridge working as it for its intended purpose.
Don't get lost in all of the purposes in that last
paragraph. The short of it is that we are like the
refrigerator. We have a purpose, which is not for
ourselves but to serve those around us. We do so with the
Freon that circulates within us, that is Christ in us.
Thankfully we have wonderful friends who were looking out
for us and helped us with plan "C." Number 2 was
hauled to the curb and #3 is in place, working GREAT and
will for the duration of our stay here (<--faith statement).
Like the salt mentioned in Matthew 5:13 that loses its
saltiness, the refrigerator is no longer useful after it
loses its cool. It is put out to the proverbial curb to
be picked up by the proverbial large appliance repair man.
Don't let yourself be uncool. You are the salt of the
earth. You are the refrigerator in the kitchen of your
friends, family, co-workers, classmates. Keep your flava,
keep your cool. Stay plugged in to the Source. Keep the
Freon moving. And every now and then, put in a fresh box
of baking soda (I like to keep these devo's practical as
well as spiritual).
