The Answers Book,
by Ken Ham / Andrew Snelling / Carl Wieland.
The debate over Creation vs. evolution is often in both the
secular and Christian press. There are religious hard-liners on
both sides, and a dozen voices of ignorance and compromise in
between. People with degrees and pedigrees ply us with
interesting arguments, but the end result is often more
confusion rather than clarity. With the 'facts' and findings
changing from year-to-year, where can I get straight answers?
Believe it or not, the Book that never changes holds the most
up-to-date answers to the origins questions if we will just go
to it. In 'The Answers Book', scientists and Bible scholars
together look into God's answers Book, the Bible. Herein, armed
with twenty very modern question, we find twenty utterly
timeless answers. Not just the simple questions like 'Where did
Cain get his wife?', but toughies like 'How can we see distant
stars in a young universe?' and 'How did all the animals fit on
the ark?' or 'What about Carbon-14 (radioisotope) dating?'
The greatest lesson that I learned from this book is that the
facts are the facts, but Christians need not fear them. The
facts of science overwhelmingly support and confirm Scripture,
while presenting insurmountable problems to the stream of ideas
put forward by modern evolutionists. The book has some technical
depth, but every question is answered simply, backed-up
carefully and has references for further consideration. The
authors are frank about how information and suppositions change
regularly, and they avoid dogmatism while upholding the Bible as
the ultimate standard. Some of the sections I read straight
through, some I skimmed and have referred back to later. It is a
great resource that I regularly lend to others who need good
answers.
