The Case for Exercise

Let me begin by clarifying that this isn't the column I had
initially planned to write for this month. The article I had
intended to share was one that outlined the importance of
keeping a workout-training diary. And, to be frank, I was
quite pleased with the way it was turning out.
I imagined the readers of Modern Disciple Magazine being awed
by the majesty of my logic and inspired to new heights of
excellence by the irrefutability of my conclusions. But then
my wife, Deb, brought me back to earth. She's good at that.
Deb, who also doubles as my editor, suggested to me there are
actually people in the world who might happen to read my article
that don't workout. And, that such individuals could care less
about the benefits of keeping a workout-training diary.
I was shocked, hurt, and dumbfounded by her assertion. People
who don't exercise!? Where does one find such a strange breed?
Doesn't everyone know they're supposed to exercise?
My wife's statement immediately made me wonder about the caliber
of people she was associating with. How else could she have
formed such a depraved view of humanity? People who don't
exercise? It was hard to imagine.
But she insisted that I was being naïve to assume that everyone
reading this column exercises. And, though I find this hard to
accept, I must admit that she's probably right. I hate it when
she's right!
Having thus been compelled to rethink my approach to this
month's article, I instead submit to you the following "food for
thought":
>>> You absolutely must
exercise!
