The Sixty Minute Father is a new feature of MDM4M, inspired by Rob Parsons' book of the same name. The Sixty Minute Father is about finding creative ways to make and spend quality time with your kids, as often as possible. The cool thing is that creating lasting memories with your children often costs nothing more than your time...

The Fabulous Fox Theatre
Detroit, Michigan
Once a month, I like to take my kids on an "adventure". This started almost three years ago, soon after I became a single dad, and the rules of the "adventure" are that the kids have no idea where we are going until we arrive. This saves disappointment, in case the plans change unexpectedly, in which case I can find another adventure to go on - mini-golf always works as a last-minute substitute.
On the latest adventure, my daughter and I travelled to the Fox Theatre in the historical district of Detroit, across from Comerica Park, the home of the Tigers. The look of surprise on her face when she read the marquee was worth the trip in itself!
I was a VeggieTales fan before the kids were born, so we both had a blast watching Larry, Bob and the 'Boys In The Sink' dance and sing onstage. Jessie was a great hostess whose over-the-top personality really fit the bill to cheerlead the kids into a frenzy before all their favourite characters arrived to the show.
The Veggies performed a bunch of their classic songs, including His Cheeseburger, The Belly Button Song and our personal favourite, the LarryBoy Theme. My daughter and all the kids (and parents) had a blast, including the four pre-schoolers singing loudly in my ear for most of the show!
I highly recommend the show to parents of children ten and under, althought there were some teens representin' as well. The Godly lessons that the VeggieTales are known for came through loud and clear.
