ROCK STARS ON GOD:
20 Artists Speak Their Mind About Faith

Doug Van Pelt, Relevant Books
A Review by Ryan Richardson

Do you know how some people eat the center of an Oreo cookie as soon as they get it? Or how others go straight to the sport section of the newspaper?

That is how I am when I pick up a new copy of HM Magazine www.hmmagazine.com - I go directly to the section called "What So & So Says". I do not pass Go, I do not collect $200. WS&SS always features interviews with top mainstream artists, asking the hard questions about life, faith and existence.

The folks at Relevant Books have been kind enough to compile a number of author Doug Van Pelt's interviews into one book, collectively known as Rock Stars On God. This book provides insight into some people that are or have become million sellers, including Nickelback, Alice Cooper, Rage Against The Machine, Godsmack and Metallica. Some of their answers will surprise you.

Van Pelt has had wide access to these artists, many before they "made it big". It is clear throughout the book that, many times, he has left the artist with some real questions that they may not have thought through, but realizing that they need to find the answers for themselves. He does not assume the obvious or candy-coat the answers, but he gently asks pointed questions and captures the conversation. You get to be the fly on the wall. Tactful probing results in fascinating discussions that, for better or worse, start to reveal the heart of the artist.

If you like to know what is truly behind the music, you will want to pick this one up. Add this one to the list of books from Relevant that you'll purposely leave out for (all) your friends to read.
