Setting Captives Free

Where Do I Go
               From Here ?

Sound familiar? This is the question that many men ask themselves just a few shorts days after returning from a high octane men's retreat or event.

Most of us men in the church today have been made aware that we are not alone in our struggle for sexual purity and freedom from habitual sin. Groups like the Promise Keepers have done an outstanding job of rallying men and focusing them on the tasks at hand: personal holiness, responsibility in the home, racial reconciliation and local church support and attendance. Our pastors have even shed off the uncomfortable feeling of addressing sex and sexual immorality from the pulpit and have gone ahead with informative and challenging messages on God's design for sex.

But…when you are alone and your pastor is not present and PK has moved on to the next town, where do you go from there? This is critical decision time. The choice here is yours. Compromise and continue in the ways of the flesh, or seek to be set free.

Enter 'Setting Captives Free.' Started by Mike Cleveland just a few short years ago, 'Setting Captives Free' now has a course enrollment of over 64,000 people. Setting Captives Free exists to offer Christ-centered Hope and Freedom to those in the grip of sin through accountability to Bible-based Truth's resulting in the true enjoyment of Life in and for the Glory of God.

The growth of the ministry and effectiveness of the courses are attributed to the biblical standards to which they adhere. If you are use to man-centered theology or the dangerous trap of psychology you won't find it here. The whole ministry is based on three Radical A's which lead to total freedom from sexual impurity.

The first is "Radical Appropriation." What is meant by this term is the daily assimilation of God's Truth, from every venue possible, to change the desires of the heart into appetites for righteousness and purity.

2 Timothy 3:16,17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work

"Radical Accountability" is next. What is meant by this term is the daily mentoring by an enlightened individual who questions, admonishes, encourages, and even rebukes to ensure a continual pursuit of holiness.

The last is "Radical Amputation," which is taken from Matthew 5:28-30.
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.

As I am sure most of you know, this passage is not telling us to literally remove a body part. It is, however, telling us to figuratively remove whatever it is that is causing us to sin. Some find this just too difficult but check out this comment from a brother committed to sexual purity.
